Who are you?
My name is John Salerno, I’m from Fairfield, CT and I am 21 years old. 2024 was my debut season. People ask me my racing background, I tell them “Baseball”. I was a pitcher my whole life until my freshman year of college where I was cut from my Division 2 college, Lynn University. After being cut, I had more time on my hands, that is when I decided to pursue my passion for Motorsports. Having no history in any discipline of motorsports, I knew I had an uphill battle. Fast forward 3 years, I just finished my first season with 6 wins, 8 Podiums, including 3 national level podiums over 9 race weekends. In addition, the season brought me an invitation to race MX-5 Cup at NASCAR’s Martinsville Speedway, as well as breaking a track record at Watkins Glen.
Offshore Powerboats
In addition to speed on land, I also have a passion for speed on water. I have accumulated over 1,500 hours running numerous mono-hull offshore powerboats. In both 2022 and 2023, I captained the National Powerboat Association’s NYC Poker Run Pace Boat, helping set the pace for the run. I have experience in various endurance runs both Nationally and Internationally, on both single and twin engine craft. In addition, utilizing my USCG National Limited Master License, I have captained launch for multiple clubs along the southwestern Connecticut seaboard.
Academics
I have a Bachelors of Science from Lynn University in South Florida, majoring in Entrepreneurial and Small Business Operations.
During my sophomore year, I founded the Lynn Automobile Club. The club is designed to help bring students together over their shared passion for cars. During my time at Lynn, I was fortunate enough to host many rallies and events where club members shared memories that will last a lifetime.
The club became one of the largest student organizations on campus and continues to grow every year.
